From her studio in the rolling countryside of Mid Devon, Chrystella McCabe creates wildlife sculptures that celebrate both the beauty and individuality of the animal world. Having trained extensively under the renowned sculptor Andrew Sinclair MRSS, she has developed a practice dedicated not simply to reproducing an animal's appearance, but to capturing something of its unique character and spirit.
Each sculpture begins with careful observation and research. By studying her subjects closely, Chrystella seeks to understand their form, movement and behaviour before translating these qualities into clay. Through a meticulous sculpting process, every detail is refined with sensitivity and precision, resulting in works that possess both anatomical authenticity and a remarkable sense of life.
A lifelong fascination with animals and the natural world lies at the heart of her work. Her sculptures invite us to pause and look more closely at the creatures with whom we share our planet, encouraging a deeper appreciation of their beauty, complexity and intrinsic value. In doing so, they foster not only admiration, but also a greater awareness of the importance of animal welfare and conservation.
Chrystella is currently developing a series of sculptures inspired by endangered species from around the world. Reflecting her commitment to their future, a proportion of every sale is donated to wildlife conservation charities, helping to support efforts to protect these remarkable animals for generations to come.
